Jo Stevens, Managing Director of Oxford Innovation Space said, “I am delighted that Oxford Innovation Space has been appointed to manage FBC Clerkenwell. The Hudson family have run this centre for two generations and so it’s a privilege to have been entrusted to help continue the legacy by supporting small businesses and the local community. We enable start-ups and entrepreneurs to push the boundaries in their field and thrive and are looking forward to supporting the current businesses at FBC Clerkenwell as well as attracting new businesses to the centre. Ideally located in Clerkenwell, one of London’s most historically creative areas, FBC Clerkenwell is home to a diverse range of businesses and now also boasts easier transport links with the addition of the brand-new Elizabeth Line station at Farringdon. Each of the 60 workspaces at FBC Clerkenwell are offered as blank canvases, so that members can customise them into their ideal environment to suit their requirements and individual style.

Owners Hugh and Ian Hudson took over running FBC Clerkenwell from their father, who transformed the building in 1983. The brothers painted the walls as children for pocket money and are passionate about enhancing the provisions for businesses within the centre. Ian Hudson explained: “We’re really pleased to be Oxford Innovation Space’s first London workspace. With their added layers of expertise, we can’t wait to get FBC Clerkenwell fully humming again, and maintain our presence as a thriving hub for business, innovation, and entrepreneurship in London.”

Orchard blossoms in first year with new staff and recruitment

A recruitment consultancy in Southampton marked its first anniversary by making two employment moves of its own.
Orchard Recruiting, based at business hub Ocean Village Innovation Centre (OVIC), recruited Laura Baker as a permanent consultant and Rachel Marshall as a recruitment advisor.
Founded by Lisa Orchard, the firm has seen demand steadily increase from companies struggling to fill vacancies or expand themselves due to the UK’s labour shortage.
The start-up focuses on filling roles such as office administrators and customer service – temporary and permanent – for employers and job seekers, including in finance, accountancy, marketing, insurance, law, HR and manufacturing.
